Dr. Nicholas Gonzales Castro, MD, PhD is a neuro-oncologist treating patients with primary brain tumors and brain metastases, as well as patients suffering from neurologic complications of cancer and its therapy at Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Dr. Gonzales Castro also serves as an Assistant Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Gonzales Castro’s research interests include brain and spinal metastases, clinical trials in neuro-oncology, glioblastoma, IDH-mutant gliomas, neurological complications of cancer and its therapy, and quality of life. Dr. Gonzales Castro’s current research efforts focus on understanding the genetic basis of cancer cell survival and resistance to treatment in primary brain tumors, with the goal of developing more effective therapies.
Dr. Gonzales Castro received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School. He completed a residency in neurology at Massachusetts General Hospital/Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and a fellowship in neuro-oncology at Massachusetts General Hospital/Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
